Call for Information and Listening Exercise

The Diocese of St Albans has now issued a report arising from the recent listening exercise concerning allegations of abuse suffered at St Andrew’s, Chorleywood during the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. That exercise was conducted between January and May 2026 and the report can now be viewed or downloaded from the Diocesan website at https:stalbansdiocese.org/stac

The exercise was led by our diocese and carried out with the full support of St Andrew’s. We welcome the fact that anyone who may in the past have suffered harm at St Andrew’s was given the opportunity to come forward to be heard and supported. So we thank the diocese for initiating and leading this exercise and we offer our thanks and praise to all of those who came forward.

St Andrew’s takes safeguarding of children and adults very seriously. Safeguarding attitudes and practices, both at St Andrew’s and more generally, have changed considerably since the decades concerned and we believe our current arrangements to be robust and thorough. The report itself provides further support for this view.

Should there be anyone else who may have experienced harm during the historic periods concerned but who missed the opportunity to make a disclosure while the listening exercise was ongoing, they may still do so by emailing safeguarding@stalbans.anglican.org
